W ente Vineyards and The Wine- makers Studio are continuing their themes this spring with consistent and well-balanced wines. An early release, the 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé from Wente Vineyards will be out the first part of February. It is similar to past rosés, says Lindsay Knight, Tasting Room Director, and has been a fa- vorite with club mem- bers and guests. "It is great we are releasing it earlier this year," Knight says, "so guests can enjoy throughout the year." In March, The Winemakers Studio will release its 2014 Malvasia Bianca, a new white varietal. The wine is lighter in body like a Pinot Grigio with a light, crisp taste. "It's a different varietal that is indicative of what they're doing at The Wine- makers Studio," says Knight. "The focus is more on play- ing and winemakers doing what they want. They have the freedom to experiment." The Winemakers Studio will also have new Artisan Red, Artisan White and Azul- Verde wines, all 2013, avail- able in kegs for growler pur- chases in the Tasting Room. Wente Vineyards' May releases will include its 2013 Serenity blend with Counoise, Grenache and Syrah grapes. This blend has wonderful aromas and flavors of ripe blackberry, roasted coffee with toasted spice. It's big yet balanced with good tannins and a long, smooth finish. The 2013 Grenache is an- other great wine for spring. It's a lighter fruity wine with a hint of strawberry. A favorite with wine en- thusiasts, 2013's The Nth De- gree Chardonnay has hints of crème brulee, butterscotch and graham cracker. It also teems with fruit flavors — citrus, lemon and apple. SNEAK PREVIEW Here's what coming in time for spring from Wente Vineyards and The Winemakers Studio triple feature M urrieta's Well recently re- leased a trio of new wines to enjoy this spring. The 2013 Los Tesoros White Meritage is similar to its 2011 counterpart with 40 per- cent Semillon grapes. The re- sult is a white Bordeaux-style wine with fruits and floral fla- vors that linger on the finish. Next is the 2013 Los Tesoros Tempranillo. This wine features Graciano grapes, a blending grape found in many Spanish wines. "It's ready to drink out the door and it's going to get bet- ter," says Tasting Room Man- ager Lori Albiani. "It finishes with a hint of spice on the end." The 2013 Los Tesoros Cabernet Franc is ready to be enjoyed now, Albiani says, and in the next six months it will be a full-bodied, big wine. new from murrieta's well Inside The Winemakers Studio. click to browse all the wente vineyards wines
