PARMATE PROFILE > C L I C K H E R E T O L E A R N M O R E A B O U T T H E W A LT E R S G O L F PA R M AT E C A D D I E P R O G R A M W ith more than three years of experi- ence as a professional caddie at Bali Hai and Royal Links, ParMate Katie knows what it takes to excel on the job. "To be successful, it takes an outgoing person- ality and the ability to adapt to the type of group we are paired with — whether serious or just friendly," the Amarillo, Texas, native says. "We have to be inquisitive and make each member of our group feel special." According to Katie, her role on the course is half forecaddie and half ambassador of fun, who "assists golfers by providing course knowledge, course maintenance, yardages, green reads, and club selection, while providing a relaxed and en- tertaining atmosphere." What do you like most about working as a Par- Mate? The people I meet. It's amazing how many I've kept in touch with after the round and how many come back and visit me. In fact, I just re- turned from Canada, where I played with one of my regulars at his club. What is your greatest strength on the job? My personality and knowledge of the game. I'm fun, I know what I'm doing, and I'm good at my job. Those traits allow me to exceed expectations and that's always a nice feeling. What is the best compliment you have ever re- ceived on the job? A man told me that he hopes his daughter turns out to be a woman like me. That's a pretty bold statement. What one word would you use to describe yourself? Engaging. What do you like to do when you aren't work- ing? I like to travel, golf, gamble, go to any sport- ing event, paint, and cook. Are you an avid golfer? Yes! I try to play twice a month or more. What's one thing about your job most people don't know? Each ParMate is a model. What might someone be surprised to know about you? I have a Masters degree. Your favorite thing about golf? The way it con- nects people and the places it takes you. A sim- ple shirt logo can instigate conversations between strangers and connect them. Those con- nections can lead to lifelong friendships. SERVICE WITH A SMILE With her shining personality, ParMate Katie makes golf fun BOOK A TEE TIME
