l Q&A OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x WINTER 2014 x obsports.com a player or coach that helps you run a professional golf tourna- ment? Absolutely. Growing up in the game of golf and competing since I was 10, I learned all the values the game teaches golfers, such as patience and responsibility. You're solely responsible for what you shoot and how you conduct yourself. Those values and lessons have served me well in everything I do. What is your fondest memory from your college playing days? Winning the conference champi- onship as a teenage sophomore at the University of Washington. In those days, we had to stand up to powerhouses like Arizona, which had Jim Furyk as its fifth player. How did you first become in- volved in the game of golf? My dad was head golf professional at Edgewood in Lake Tahoe, so I was hooked early. In the summer, he'd get me up at 4:30 a.m. and take me with him to work. I could get in 36 holes before 9 a.m. I just loved to play and loved to compete. How much golf do you get to play these days and what is the current state of your game? With this job, I have access to Riviera and play a lot of client golf. But I've also been playing some bigger amateur events and I turned in a score for the first time recently in 12 years. I've challenged myself to get my game back into shape and I think it's as good now as it has been in 15 years. HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE O.D. Vincent was honored last year with an induction into the 2014 Golf Coach Association of America's Hall of Fame. ›› CLICK here to read all about it. DID YOU KNOW?
