l Q&A OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x WINTER 2014 x obsports.com How did you first become involved with the Northern Trust Open? I was introduced to this opportunity by a friend of mine in the golf business in the Los Angeles area. I never really sought it out. I was very happy being the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Washington, and wasn't looking for something new. But I saw it as a great op- portunity to get back to golf and give some- thing back to the game I love so much. Plus, I love Los Angeles, love the community and the expectations of this town for excellence. As Executive Director, what are your pri- mary responsibilities? From a revenue fi O.D. Vincent runs the Northern Trust Open. LEADING MAN n O.D. VINCENT PLAYS A VITAL ROLE AT NORTHERN TRUST OPEN BY joel Beers W hile O.D. A success- ful collegiate golfer and head coach, Vincent is in his second year as executive director of the Northern Trust Open, the Los Angeles PGA Tour event that has been held since 1928. The 2015 event will be held Feb. 18-22 at Riviera Country Club. • Vincent succeeded basketball leg- end Jerry West, and he has used many of the skills and strategies he learned and implemented as a PAC 10 conference-leading player at the University of Washington and golf coach stints at that school, UCLA and Duke University in his new position.
