l PGA TOUR REPORT OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x WINTER 2014 x obsports.com Anticipate Rory completing the ca- reer Grand Slam at the age of 25 by winning the Masters. BREAKOUT PERFORMERS Jimmy Walker, Billy Horschel and Chris Kirk shattered the ceilings above them to become some of golf's biggest stars in 2014. In 2015, look for Hideki Matsuyama, Brooks Koepka, Carlos Ortiz and Tony Finau to break through. Japan's Matsuyama burst onto the scene in 2013 as a 21-year-old, with a T10 at the U.S. Open and a T6 at the British Open. In '14, Mat- suyama captured the Memorial at Muirfield Village, then edged Jordan Spieth in late November to win the Dunlop Phoenix in his home country. Koepka, a three-time All-Ameri- can at Florida State, decided to try the European Challenge Tour after he turned pro in 2012 and domi- nated. With three wins, he earned a promotion to the regular European PGA Tour. However, later in 2013, he finished third at the PGA Tour's Frys.com Open and qualified for the 2014 U.S. Open, where he finished T4. This gave him PGA Tour mem- bership for the 2014-15 season. With flexibility to play all over the world, Koepka beat a stellar field in November to win the Turkish Air- lines Open. He's long, loose and knows how to win. Mexico's Carlos Ortiz won three times on the Web.com Tour as a rookie, earning him PGA Tour status for 2014-15. He earned his first top 25 at the Shriners in Las Vegas, then two weeks later, scored a top 10 at his home country's OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Ortiz admires Lorena Ochoa; both of them grew up at Guadalajara Country Club. Huge-hitting Tony Finau is a Salt Lake City native with incredible nat- ural athletic ability, who finished eighth on the Web.com money list in 2014 and won the Stonebrae Classic in August. Finau's early PGA Tour results are promising. In five starts late in 2014, he has finished T14 or better in four of them.
