TIME
F
ollowing a month-long closure period for its fall
overseed project in which the bermuda grass ideal
for summer is replaced with winter-friendly rye
grass, Classic Club is set to reopen for public play on
Saturday, Nov. 15. We caught up with Director of
Agronomy Keith Einwag for an update on the course:
What kind of conditions can golfers expect when the
course reopens? Good playing surfaces with a mix of
bermuda and rye — still in its maturation period. Re-
member, we drop seed in mid-October; it takes on aver-
age 14 days to germinate, so the overseed is only two
weeks old when we open.
How long after the course reopens will it take to re-
turn to pristine conditions? Course conditions change
daily and we provide the best conditions each day. By
mid-December, for a typical year, the overseeding has
matured and we are able to be more aggressive on low-
ering the heights of cuts and increasing green speeds.
How long will carts be required to stay on the paths?
As of now, carts will be allowed on the fairways when
we open. If some crazy weather pattern hits that could
change, but I don't see that happening.
