Not to worry. Throughout the year, American Golf fund- raising seminars serve as a refresher for veteran planners and a basics boot camp for first-timers, and online re- sources help calculate costs, outline needs and set up registration. Once a date is se- lected, American Golf consultants partner with charity tournament organizers to help guide the way to a successful event. Consultants share their experience — from what works and setting goals to step-by-step plan- ning — and they actually do some of the legwork. American Golf promotes tournaments through its own social media sites and teaches clients to do the same. After the event, its success is pro- moted through a press re- lease sent to American Golf's database of golfers. Through its Nonprofit Partnership Fundraising Pro- gram, American Golf gener- ates more than half a million dollars annually for charities by donating rounds of golf. Consultants even have joined the board of directors for some charities. "It becomes that personal for them," says Jennifer Tin- ney, National Director of Tournament Sales. Whether the tournament is played at one of its private or public courses, American Golf provides the same great service and event needs — set up, scoring and wrap up. Tournament directors, how- ever, do so much more. "American Golf serves as a venue, consultant and part- ner," Tinney says. "We help put on a successful event. We get involved in the actual planning of the event." Tournament organizers who need to draw more par- ticipants, increase donors and come up with creative ways to maximize the fun factor and money raised have an experienced staff that can help. And they want to. "We really do care about charities," Tinney says. "Our tournament directors love it; it's very fulfilling to help raise money for a good cause."
