uinceaneras have
evolved into elab-
orate parties befit-
ting the beautiful young
girl celebrating her 15th
birthday.
Many of the details are
similar to weddings, from
the first dance to a spectac-
ular cake and live music.
The location, too, is now
more formal and festive.
Chardonnay Golf Club is
one of the few courses in the
Napa Valley that hosts nearly
a dozen quinceaneras a year,
with its breathtaking views of
rolling fairways, mountain
ranges and a vineyard. Its ban-
quet room, with sweeping
views of the property and
vaulted ceilings, accommo-
dates up to 180 guests.
The Moonlight Grove site,
with seating up to 500, in-
cludes a lawn area that leads
into a white tent illuminated
by twinkling chandeliers.
"The tent has an open side
that faces the garden, an ideal
spot for photos with the
damas and chabelanes," says
Wedding Sales Manager Noy
Mendoza.
Limo golf carts are available
to drive the quinceanera party
anywhere on the course for
photographs — near one of the
many ponds, under willow
trees, on a bridge or amid the
vineyards.
"Quinceaneras are beautiful
and memorable," says Men-
doza. "I had one myself when
I turned 15 years old, so I
know how special this day is
for all quinceaneras. They are
just as special as a wedding."
When planning a quincean-
era, Mendoza suggests collect-
ing magazines and catalogs for
ideas. Then make a planning
notebook and choose a theme
and colors. The experienced
staff at Chardonnay is happy
to assist with all the rest.
