TASTING ROOM > C L I C K H E R E T O V I E W T H E C O M P L E T E W E N T E V I N E YA R D S W I N E C O L L E C T I O N The year's new wine releases highlight a stellar season W ente Vineyards Wine Club members and non-members alike have some deliciously unique new wines to enjoy this season. Two member-exclusive releases unveiled in February included Wente's 2012 The Nth De- gree Chardonnay, a buttery, well-balanced wine that quickly sold out last year. Also, the 2012 Small Lot Syrenity, typically a 50-50 blend of Syrah and Counoise, incorporates a new varietal — Grenache. "That's given the wine a bit more fruit fla- vor," says Senior Tasting Room Manager Lind- say Knight. "So the Grenache adds more vibrancy and complexity." The 2012 Small Lot Grenache has lots of straw- berry tones and is a lighter body style of red wine. May releases include the 2012 Small Lot GSM, the second of the Artists Series wines featuring a Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre blend. Wente's Pinot Noirs have consistently been strong releases, and the 2012 The Nth Degree Pinot Noir is no exception. The 2013 Small Lot Eric's Chardonnay is unlike many "buttery" Chardonnays since it's fermented and aged in stainless steel rather than barrels. The result is a fruit-forward crisp flavor ideal for spring and summer. "With all of our releases we try to find a good balance of three wines," says Knight. "And we've definitely achieved this." Wente-owned Murrieta's Well is also de- buting some of its own anticipated releases. The next round of the winery's releases is set for April 12 and includes the 2013 Los Tesoros Muscat Canelli, a wine with floral notes and a citrus finish. The 2012 Los Tesoros Zinfandel is "not a big, dry, chewy Zin," says Tasting Room Manager Lori Al- biani, but rather has an appealing black cherry and espresso taste. "The club-exclusive 2012 Los Tesoros Mal- bec is a hearty wine that stands alone — no food pairing is necessary," Albiani says.
