ORANGE COUNTY SPOTLIGHT: COYOTE HILLS F THRILLS IN THE HILLS With stunning views and dramatic elevation changes, Coyote Hills Golf Course leaves a lasting impression rom the life-size statue of golf legend Payne Stewart that greets visitors to the still-working oil derricks that dot the property, Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton has carved an impressive niche in the Orange County landscape. Opened in 1996, the Cal Olson-designed CLICK FOR INFO ON course, which Steward collaborated on, BOOKING is lush and winds its YOUR NEXT way through 260 EVENT acres of land that used to be all oil wells. A few of the wells are still working but rather than being a distraction, they add to the ambience of one of the most unique courses in Southern California. "We're only on 260 acres, but this isn't the kind of course where holes are built side-byside," Tournament Sales Manager Mike Hallowell said. "When you're on the first hole, that's the only hole you see and it's that way throughout all 18 holes." Several elevated tees offer stunning views of Orange and The expansive clubhouse overlooks the ninth green at Coyote Hills. Los Angeles counties, as well as the San Gabriel Mountains. The elevation changes make course management a priority. So, while the par-70 course is only 6,510-yards from the back tees, its layout forces you to bring your A game mentally. The course's layout, ambiance and location make it a popular stop for tournaments and events. Hallowell, who works with tournament, weddings, parties and other special events, says that personalized attention and an attention to detail help Coyote Hills stand out. "I've been here 11 years now and have a great deal of rapport with my clients," he said. "I really enjoy helping people raise money and I'm there to offer different ideas or suggestions to help them raise money." The formula for achieving success is simple. "It's about taking the time and working with people" Hallowell said. "We don't want anyone to come out and not have it be a great event."
