SHOCK
AND AWE
5 of the year's biggest stories in
the world of professional golf

T
he start of the 2023 professional golf
season posed many questions. Some of
the responses were so surprising as to
be shocking. That's why we watch.
While there may have been a few major disap-
pointments from some big names in the game,
other young stars stepped up. Norway's Viktor
Hovland won four times, including the season-
ending Tour Championship to claim the FedEx
Cup. He also contended in every major. France's
Celene Boutier snagged three titles, going back-
to-back at the Amundi Evian Championship, her
home country major and then at the Women's
Scottish Open. Spain's Jon Rahm dominated the
first half of the year. Texas' Scottie Scheffler
couldn't miss from tee to green. It all illuminates
golf's remarkable global appeal – and another
great year in the sport.
