PGA TOUR
MAGICAL MOMENTS
The American Express highlighted by stellar play and iconic musical performances
I
f you mix together top golfers on the PGA Tour,
iconic musical performers, thousands of fans and
volunteers, and four days of highly competitive
golf, you're bound to produce an impressive highlight
reel. That certainly was the case with The American
Express, which was held at PGA WEST February 19-
22. Here's a look at the week's biggest moments:
Rahm rules once again. Jon Rahm entered the week
as one of the hottest golfers on the planet, and he
proved it by winning his second straight PGA Tour
start. Following his victory to open 2023 at the
Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, Rahm
came to the desert and shot 64-64-65-68 (261) to
win The AMEX by one stroke over rookie Davis
Thompson, with Xander Schauffele two strokes back.
It was Rahm's second win at the event – he also won
in 2018 – and the ninth of his PGA Tour career.
"Heck of a start," Rahm said in his winner's press
conference. "Obviously, Sentry and this event are
played on very, very different golf courses and very
different golf … but you still have to go low in both
of them. My swing has been feeling really good."
Jon Rahm took home 7e
American Express trophy
for the second time.
