WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. He went from no wins to World No. 1 in six weeks. The capper? Scheffler waltzed over the hills of Augusta National, in a performance so dominating he four-putted the 72nd hole for double-bogey—and still won by three. Incredible! u u u Justin Thomas wins a wild PGA Championship After teaming with longtime Phil Mickel- son caddie, Jim "Bones" Mackay, big things were expected from Justin Thomas in 2022. At the PGA Championship in May, JT delivered — barely. After a third-round 74, he stood seven shots behind leader Mito Pereira. Thomas clawed his way back with a 64-foot birdie putt at 11, with another birdie at 12, and with an up-and-down birdie at 17. He missed the 10-foot birdie putt at 18 after a brilliant ap- proach, but shot 67 — and waited. Sure enough, Pereira, the young Chilean, came to the 72nd hole up by one, but shoved his drive into a creek and made double bogey. That left Thomas and Will Zalatoris in a three-hole playoff. Thomas birdied the first two holes and when Willy Z. couldn't birdie 18, Thomas picked up his second PGA Championship. ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 TOUR REPORT Justin Thomas made a comeback for the ages at the PGA Championship.
