Opportunities available
to support 14th annual
fundraising tournament
I
f you've ever considered sup-
porting the First Tee – Coachella
Valley, now's your chance.
The organization's 12th Annual
Fundraising Golf Tournament is
slated for Monday, April 25, and
while tee times are sold out, there
are still ways to contribute.
"There are a number of sponsor-
ships available ranging from $500 to
$2,500," said tournament volunteer
Bill Morrow, a member of the host
course Desert Horizons Country
Club. "They include tee signage and
food and beverage sponsorships,
among other things."
A virtual auction will also take
place April 12-26, where people can
bid on items such as sports mem-
orabilia, travel and more.
The annual golf tournament is
the biggest fundraiser of the year
for FTCV, and helped raise $125,000
for the group last year.
Sponsoring the event provides
much more than giving young
people a chance to learn golf.
"Simply, the program helps to de-
velop better citizens and future
leaders," Morrow said.

Series at PGA TOUR Superstore helps
kids set goals and choose career paths
W
ith the help of PGA
TOUR Superstore, the
leaders of the future
are being groomed today.
The First Tee Leadership
Series, a national program held
in partnership with PGA TOUR
Superstore, is an empowering
five-week series designed to
provide teens the opportunity
to build relationships, uncover
leadership values and strengths,
identify potential career paths,
and develop goals to attain their
desired profession.
Seven members of the First
Tee – Coachella Valley took
part in the recently held series
locally at the PGA TOUR Super-
store in Palm Desert. The series
gave participants the opportu-
nity to take part in group activ-
ities to discuss goal setting
and explore career options.
"This program helps our
teens learn more about them-
selves as a person – their gifts,
talents, core values, and person-
ality – so that they can choose
a career and education path
that best fits their needs," said
Executive Director Teal Guion.
The PGA TOUR Superstore
not only donates $15,000 an-
nually to FTCV, but General
Manager Molly Faris sits on the
Board of Directors.
"She has committed to help
outfit participants in need with
the equipment necessary to
be come successful on the golf
course," Guion said. "Molly also
does an amazing job delivering
the Leadership Series and she
is a fantastic role model to
our participants."
