Bright idea Hailey Hays helps raise nearly $16,000 at Shots in the Night event E agle-level participant Hailey Hays put together a fundraiser for the First Tee – Coachella Valley that utilized Indian Wells Golf Resort's night- time entertainment venue Shots in the Night – and the results from the March 30 event were lights out. Hays, who organized the fundraiser after attending a First Tee leadership conference and as part of an ef- fort to obtain a scholarship, helped raise nearly $16,000 for the organization, a feat that will help bring a First Tee program to the physical education classes at Palm Desert Middle School. "As a golfer on the Palm Desert High School girls golf team, it has always been a goal and passion of mine to get more girls into the game," Hays said. "My hope is that by implementing this First Tee program into Palm Desert Middle School we can introduce new people – boys and girls – to a sport that has had a profound impact on my life." Hays said Shots in the Night, which features a glow golf range and laser putting games, served as a won- derful venue for the event as it also gave people who had never played the game a chance to do so. "We also had the opportunity to showcase First Tee golf equipment along with a few games and activities that will soon be implemented into the middle school's program," Hays said. "This was a great way to intro- duce various aspects of the First Tee curriculum." ............................................................................................. > CLICK HERE for information about how you can donate to First Tee – Coachella Valley.
