T he best golf advice I have ever received is how to approach long second shots, either to a par 5 or after missing a drive on a par 4 and being out of position. When you have a long distance to go and there is trouble near the green, dividing by two has really changed my game. You take a low-percentage situation with one of your longest clubs and turn it into a very achievable situation by hitting two short irons and making sure you get out of trouble and on the green as soon as possible. This keeps scores down by eliminating blow-up holes.
