has racked up five consecutive Top 7 U.S. Open finishes.
Yet, somehow in 2020-21, he lost his mojo. Confidence
and momentum are tricky animals to handle, but after
Schauffele's clutch up-and-down to win Olympic Gold
in Tokyo in July and his superb Ryder Cup performance
in September, he reminded everybody just how serious
his talent is.
After ranking fifth on Tour in the all-important
Strokes Gained Total category in 2021, look for the win
totals to not just expand, but explode in 2022.

Nelly Korda and Jin Young Ko
finally settle World No. 1
South Korea's Jin Young Ko captured the LPGA
Money title and Player of the Year in 2019, and topped
the Money list again in 2020 — incredibly, since she only
played in four events. She also won her first two majors
in 2019. Between July and November 2021, she captured
five LPGA events, tied Annika Sorenstam's 16-year-old
record of 14 consecutive rounds in the 60s and again
won Player of the Year and Money crowns. Yet, she was
surpassed as World No. 1, by Nelly Korda.
The 23-year-old Korda grabbed her first major in June
2021, the Women's PGA, to take over the No. 1 ranking.
She justified that ranking in early August with a spectac-
ular Gold Medal performance at the Tokyo Olympics.
Since then, she and the 26-year-old Ko have traded
the world's top spot back and forth.
It's time for these two stalwarts to have a classic head-
to-head duel. With any luck, that's going to happen at
the U.S. Women's Open at North Carolina's Pine Nee-
dles. I'm counting on it.
Nelly Korda has risen to the top
of the game with her stellar play.
