FORGING
AHEAD
PING unveils i59 player's
irons and new Glide wedges
L
ow handicappers who appre-
ciate the precision of hitting
forged blades may not neces-
sarily be looking for forgiveness in
their irons, but PING has taken the
leap to combine the two in their new
i59 player's irons.
"It's a true forged blade on the outside,
but inside it's like nothing ever engineered in
golf equipment," said PING President John K.
Solheim. "Our team took on the challenge of
disrupting an iron category and they devel-
oped an iron unlike any other."
Using a patent-pending
technology called AlumiCore,
approximately 30 grams of
weight has been redistrib-
uted to the perimeter of
each iron, elevating the mo-
ment of inertia to match PING's larger i210
irons. The result is a forgiving, forged iron
with a crisp, solid feel at impact that delivers
lower launch and trajectory control with the
precision expected from a blade design.
PING's engineers designed the new
Glide Forged Pro wedges for golfers who
put special focus on saving shots into and
around the green.
The tour-inspired, high-spinning design is
offered in two grind profiles and multiple loft
options to fit players who rely on precision
and control to shoot lower scores. The new
Emery face blast adds more texture to the
hitting surface, creating higher friction and
more interaction between the club and ball
for more spin and lower launch.
"When you look at the Glide Forged Pro
wedge, everything about it stands out," Sol-
heim said. "It's a great-looking club with
amazing feel that performs beautifully. And,
it has the versatility to attract and benefit a
lot of different skill levels."

HELPING HAND
Bushnell ION EDGE offers unique new features
I
f you need an extra advantage on the course, Bushnell
Golf has one that you can wrap around your wrist. The
new ION EDGE features a comfortable, low profile
golf GPS watch with features that give golfers the upper
hand when navigating around the golf course.
Preloaded with more than 38,000 courses worldwide,
the ION EDGE offers a display with large, easy-to-read
distances to the front, center and back of the green, and
it comes with a putting surface view so you can select pin
locations to dial in your distance more accurately.
Another interesting aspect of the watch is its dynamic
green mapping, a feature that gives golfers distances to
the front and back of the green based on their line of
play. And, if you're one of those players who is always
aware of the hazards that lie ahead, the ION EDGE pro-
vides six hazard/layup distances on every hole.
