C L I C K H E R E TO V I E W T H E C L A S S I C C LU B W I N E L I S T T he City of Walla Walla is a small town located in southeastern Washington, but it's been making a big name for itself in the world of wines. Located in the Walla Walla Valley, six miles north of the Oregon border, the region is known as one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the country and produces many crops. It has also become world-renowned for wine and boasts more than 100 wineries in the area. Courtesy of Classic Club Assistant General Manager Ruan Krugel, here's a look at two wines featured at Bellatrix Restaurant: uuu 2011 Figgins Estate Figgins was born from a vision to transform a phenomenal vineyard site into a singular, estate-grown non-varietal red wine blended from Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. The goal from the beginning has been to elevate the potential of this special site through viticultural and winemaking wisdom. The 2011 Figgins Estate Red is excellent in the vintage, with classic creme de cassis, lead pen- cil shavings, tobacco, bay leaf and toast giving way to a medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless 2011 that has good concentration, plenty of sweet fruit and building tannin that emerges with more time in the glass. Classy, elegant and streamlined, it's already ap- proachable, but will be better in another cou- ple years and will drink nicely through 2026. uuu 2012 K Vintners 'Cattle King' Upland Vineyard, Snipes Mountain One of the greatest Syrahs emerging out of Washington is the 2012 Syrah Cattle King, and it's every bit as good as the more widely known Royal City Syrah. Coming from the Upland Vineyard on Snipes Mountain, my notes start with "wow," and then include a few more superlatives. Exhibiting sensational notes of blackberry, cassis, licorice, crushed flowers, crushed rocks and graphite, this inky colored 2012 is full-bodied, massively concen- trated and seamless, with incredible purity and length. I'm sure it will evolve gracefully for at least another decade. NOW POURING Wines from Walla Walla, Washington, shine at Classic Club FROM THE CELLAR
