TORREY
PINES
GOLF
COURSE
B
ring your muscles and
your 'A'-game to Torrey
Pines' brawny South
course. Rees Jones renovated
this cliff-top, city-of-San Diego-
owned track in 2001 and today
it stretches a strength-sapping
7,802 yards. The most spectac-
ular holes peer down at the
Pacific, though the toughest
tests tangle with scrub-choked
canyons along the back nine.
Don't overlook Torrey Pines
South's less-famous sibling, the
North, which co-hosts the an-
nual Farmers Insurance PGA
Tour event. Following a 2016
Tom Weiskopf renovation, the
7,259-yard North shines with
improved playability. By flip-
ping the nines, the awesome
ocean holes now come into
play late in the round, notably
the 202-yard, par-3 15th.
