INTRODUCTION TEAM EFFORT Las Positas Golf Course thrives despite year-long challenges Las Positas Insider // 2021 Edition O ver the past year, the Covid-19 pandemic has created numerous challenges and uncertainties, in- cluding the closure of Las Positas Golf Course for nearly two months beginning in mid-March of 2020. But in collaboration with the city of Liver- more, Las Positas and its management com- pany CourseCo implemented health and safety protocols that allowed a swift return to golf, and a significant surge in demand followed. "We're proud that we were able to offer an outdoor recreational activity – safely and responsibly," said General Manager Sam Bozzo. "I feel the response to the pandemic at Las Positas has been second to none. Our rounds are up and our guests and employees are safe." As overall revenue was unfavorably im- pacted by the closures and subsequent COVID restrictions, CourseCo was able to work with the City of Livermore to ensure full rent was paid and capital improvements were made, including major repairs to bridges on holes 9 and 17 of the Signature course, and resodding of tee boxes on both of the courses. While Food and Beverage realized over $1 million dollars in lost revenue, CourseCo and its restaurant partners, Beeb's Sports Bar & Grill, have continued to invest in the prop- erty. These investments included an upgrade to the HVAC system at Beeb's and the re-seal- ing and re-striping of the entire golf course parking lot scheduled for the Spring. And while operations at Beeb's were se- verely impacted in 2020, there is light at the end of the pandemic, according to Bozzo. "We are still missing food and beverage, but golf is carrying more than its fair share," he said. "And, we have made several im- provements during the past year and have been able to get almost all of our employees back to work." Environmentally, Las Positas added another feather to its cap last fall when it received Audubon re-certification. Additionally, as soon as it is safe, there are plans in the works to bring back the commu- nity events that have allowed families and non-golfers to enjoy the facility. Capital improvements included bridge repairs and resodding of tees.
