ACHIEVEMENTS Las Positas Insider // 2020 Edition continued from the previous pageā€¦ "It is much more difficult to get three different contract holders to work together for the best of the facility than it is for one company to manage the entire facility," said Las Positas General Manager Sam Bozzo. "This fosters a better environment of teamwork among staff. Everyone feels like they are all working toward one goal and it makes the decision-making process for all things big and small much easier when everyone is on the same page." Capital improvements, a strong empha- sis on customer service, community in- volvement activities, and better financial planning and strategies have also con- tributed to greater success at Las Positas. On the customer service front, all staff members at Las Positas have been taken through CourseCo's proprietary customer service program, enhancing the experience for visitors at the property. "This is taught to all team members to get everyone on board and thinking the same way about customer service and their interactions with our guests," Bozzo said. On the financial side, CourseCo has changed the point of sales system at Las Positas to better track rounds and improve revenue, and has also implemented the Sunset Club, which offers golfers a special rate of $19 for a green fee and a cart one hour before twilight for a monthly fee. "This has been a great tool to raise the level of activity during what would tradi- tionally be defined as a slow period on most days," Bozzo said. "This gets players to fill the gaps on the tee sheet that may otherwise go unfilled. Also, this gets sig- nificant revenue coming in at the begin- ning of each month and then gets players on the golf course filling the quieter parts of the afternoons." The program is up to 175 members. "This focus on financial performance is important because it establishes an operat- ing budget for each year that allows for necessary improvements and projects while still making sure the city's financial goals are being met," Bozzo said. IMPROVEMENTS DRIVING RANGE GETS MAJOR UPGRADES W hen it comes to capital improve- ments at Las Positas, one of the first tasks CourseCo and the city of Livermore took on in 2019 was the driving range. The practice facility received a myriad of up- grades, including a state- of-the-art range machine that takes payments di- rectly, improved hitting areas with mats, new rub- ber tees and range balls, and a special pass program to entice players to prac- tice more. The changes haven't gone unnoticed. "We have had numerous players come in and thank us for he major range im- provements," Bozzo said, adding that the course has also attended to long-over- due work on trimming and removing trees, especially ones presenting danger- ous situations. Course conditions are a top priority at Las Positas.
