Q&A E van Kim got a late start in golf, but the 27-year-old pro- fessional is making up for lost time. A baseball player in high school, the Los Angeles resident didn't hit a golf ball until his senior year. He turned pro two years ago and credits his membership to The Players Club for allowing him to ac- celerate improvements in his game. He's currently playing on the South- ern California-based Bo Tour, a pro- fessional mini tour that holds events at American Golf-managed courses across Southern California. We talked to Kim following his recent first-place finish at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena. u u u How long have you been playing on the Bo Tour? I've been playing in Bo tournaments for a couple of years now – it's the only game in the area with a fair purse payout. u u u What was key for you at Brook- side? I felt like everything was going well. Like always in golf, you feel like you left a lot of shots out there. But, overall, I played very consistent, hitting greens and making putts. u u u What's the best part of your game and why? I was always able to hit the ball pretty well and long, maybe due to playing baseball. I know a lot of players worry about not being able it hit it far, but I never had to. So in a way, I'm glad I played base- ball in my junior days. u u u What do you hope to accomplish in golf? I hope to play on the PGA Tour one day and see how far I can take my game. At the moment I'm just taking some steps and thinking about trying out for the PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour China. u u u Why do you like the game? I feel that golf is like a bipolar personality – when you are playing well noth- ing is more enjoyable and when you are not it becomes the most stressful game in the world. But it's that de- sire to make it more enjoyable more often that hooks me to this game. u u u What is your best score ever and where? I'm a member at Friendly Hills CC and my low out there is a 63, which I've shot a couple times. u u u What do you like to do when you're not playing golf? Because golf is such a long and exhausting sport in the sun all day, when I come home I just like to rest and watch a movie or television show. u u u Who's in your ultimate foursome? Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlrory and Justin Thomas. I would love to pick their brains. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . > CLICK HERE to learn more about the Southern California-based Bo Tour.
