tHE 19th HOLE The Player's Club Insider // Fall 2019 I t wasn't the desire to create permanent, beautiful art that prompted Tucker Richardson to manufacture a line of eye-catching golf-themed drinking glasses – it was the very down-to-earth love he had for golf and tinkering with different materials as part of his industrial design background. "The design and manufacture of the golf ball whiskey glass isn't the most romantic story," said Richard- son of Gemsho Glass, the company he co- founded in October, 2017. "It has a lot more to do with my passion for industrial design than it does anything else. As an industrial designer, glassware is a ton of fun because there is really no limit to what can be cre- ated and people really seem to appreciate a unique and fun piece." Couple that with a relatively low investment to bring a product to market, Richardson said, and "it allows a person to experiment with their creativity. The golf ball whiskey glass is a manifestation of this experimentation and was in- spired by mine and my partner's love for golf." Gemsho is based Morehead, Minnesota, a town with a potato spud as a mascot. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither does Richardson. Though he takes great pride in the craftsmanship and quality, he says Gemsho's products are the result of "good old-fashioned American hopes and dreams" and they are "the perfect drinking vessel for the type of guy or girl who's tired of drinking from average glassware." Each whisky glass holds 10 ounces of your beverage of choice, and are made from 100-percent borosilicate. Each is handblown and packaged with care and "sent to our team in the United States where they're individually inspected be- fore they go out. Yes, every one. I'm a stick- ler for quality." Gemsho makes other glassware, including golf ball whiskey chillers, pint glasses and rock glasses, and the company is in the process of launch- ing a line of exercise focused barware, including a dumb- bell beer mug that allows you to "work your biceps while you work your liver," Richardson said. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . > CLICK HERE to learn more about Gemsho Glass.
