ACTIVE NETWORK n CGCOA MOVES FORWARD ON MULTIPLE FRONTS W elcome to the second edi- tion of the CGCOA Insider digital magazine. In this lat- est issue, we cover several topics of great interest to golf course owners and operators as well as some of the activities the organization has been in- volved in over the past several months. We are proud to highlight some of the newest efforts of the CGCOA, such as the expansion of our Golf is Good campaign to include an am- bassador program where golf course representatives will reach out to their local government officials to communicate our message and stress the positive aspects of the golf industry in the state. In addition, we are developing an internal sexual harassment pro- gram that member courses will be able to utilize to provide state- mandated training for their staff. Some of the other important topics that we cover include legisla- tive measures such as a potential ban on glyphosate and the classi- fying of teaching professionals that could have major financial impacts on golf courses. We also highlight one of the biggest concerns facing our indus- try – water – and some of the efforts that have been made and are being made to ensure golf courses stay afloat in the future. In addition to tackling the important issues of the day, the CGCOA spent a couple of days on the golf course to celebrate spe- cial occasions. The first was Women's Golf Day in June, when we gathered at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento for an event offering free instruction, contests and other fun activities for women. We also held a successful event at MountainGate Country Club in July that brought industry leaders together and helped raise money to support the efforts of the CGCOA. Finally, we take a look in this issue at a golf course in San Ramon that took unique steps to try and attract new golfers to the prop- erty, including the addition of a brewery. And we highlight Club Car, one of the leaders in the industry and a sponsor of the CGCOA. I hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to your feedback. – MARC CONNERLY, Executive Director California Golf Course Owners Association THE INSIDER CALIFORNIA GOLF COURSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION 2235 Park Towne Cir., 2nd Floor Sacramento, CA 95825 (916) 485-6361 • cgcoa.net 2019 OFFICERS PRESIDENT Michael Lautenbach, Golf Manager, Anaheim Hills and Dad Miller Golf Courses (City of Anaheim) VICE PRESIDENT Lee Finkel, VP of Public Courses, American Golf SECRETARY/TREASURER David Kramer, General Manager/Owner, Los Serranos Country Club DIRECTORS Bill Aragona General Manager, Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club Tom Frost VP of Business Development, American Golf Josh Heptig Director of Golf Operations – Morro Bay, Chalk Mountain and Dairy Creek Golf Courses (County of San Luis Obispo) George Kelley CEO/Principal, Greenway Golf Rod Metzler VP, CourseCo Steven J.
