olf and beer go together like khakis and polos, so
it almost seems like a no-brainer to pair great golf
with award-winning microbrews.
That was the idea that Don Naumann had when he
bought a struggling public golf course in San Ramon,
about 35 miles east of San Francisco, four years ago. He in-
vested some money into improving playing conditions, but
poured most of his time, funds and effort into building a
brewery on site and giving people even more reason to
visit. The first tap was pulled at the newly renamed
Canyon Lakes Golf Course & Brewery in September, 2017.
"He had a vision to not only revitalize a golf course that
was in neglect but to add an element that would make us
unique," General Manager Carrie Lyijynen said. "He
wanted to provide a space for the community where peo-
