ON
THE

D
on't
ever
doubt
how
strong
Ed
Smilow's
heart
beats
for
the
game
of
golf.
An
avid
golfer
since
the
age
of
6,
the
game
played
a
huge
part
in
he
and
his
family's
life
even
as
he
pur-
sued
a
successful
legal
career
in
Massachusetts
and
California.
However,
after
undergoing
three
open
heart
surgeries
between
1982-1992,
Smilow

wanted
to
do
was
pursue
a
career
as
a
golf
professional.
"It
made
sense
since
I
was
already
using
golf
in
my
rehabilitation,"
says
Smilow,
who
was
named
the
Ted
Horton
Distinguished
Service
award
winner
by
the
California
Golf
Course
Owners
Association.
So
Smilow
went
back
to
school,
the
Professional
Golfers
Career
Col-
lege
in
Temecula,
earning
a
degree
in
professional
golf
management.
After
graduation,
he
set
his
sights
on
the
Golden
State
Tour
and
