2 ❘ CGCOA INSIDER ❘ SPRING 2019 BREAKING NEWS ■ NEW MAGAZINE TO HELP SUPPORT THE CGCOA W elcome to the first edition of the CGCOA Insider digital magazine. As an organization, it is our mission to help golf course owners provide successful, thriving recreational facili- ties for their communities. Some of the ways we accomplish these goals are by working together, sharing ideas and resources, and providing leadership for public imaging, advocacy and state lobbying on important issues that impact golf courses. The CGCOA's new quarterly digital magazine is designed to as- sist in these efforts by helping to spread information on the organi- zation's activities, focusing on topics that effect the industry, and sharing success stories and resources that can help owners with their businesses. The magazine will also serve as a valuable tool for companies that want to get their messages out to golf course owners, provid- ing them with advertising opportunities to highlight their products and services and how they can positively impact our members. I'd like to thank our partner in this endeavor, Inside Golf Media, which publishes numerous newsletters, magazines and brochures both digitally and in print in the golf industry, including for some of our existing members. I encourage you to contact them to pro- duce any of the products you may have or need. As you flip through this first edition, you will get an idea of what is in store with the CGCOA Insider. Some of the topics we cover include an update on the CGCOA's Golf is Good initiative, recent legislation that impacts golf courses and golf professionals' employment status, a look at efforts by some golf courses to help grow the game and, of course, the association's 2018 awards, which include winners in the categories of Course of the Year, Commu- nity Environmental, For the Good of the Game, and our Ted Hor- ton Distinguished Service honor. I invite you to read through the first edition of the CGCOA In- sider. I hope you enjoy the issue and I look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions. – MARC CONNERLY, Executive Director California Golf Course Owners Association THE INSIDER CALIFORNIA GOLF COURSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION 2235 Park Towne Cir., 2nd Floor Sacramento, CA 95825 (916) 485-6361 • cgcoa.net 2019 OFFICERS PRESIDENT Michael Lautenbach, Golf Manager, Anaheim Hills and Dad Miller Golf Courses (City of Anaheim) VICE PRESIDENT Lee Finkel, VP of Public Courses, American Golf SECRETARY/TREASURER David Kramer, General Manager/Owner, Los Serranos Country Club DIRECTORS Bill Aragona General Manager, Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club Tom Frost VP of Business Development, American Golf Josh Heptig Director of Golf Operations – Morro Bay, Chalk Mountain and Dairy Creek Golf Courses (County of San Luis Obispo) George Kelley CEO/Principal, Greenway Golf Rod Metzler VP, CourseCo Steven J.
