● ENVIRONMENTAL WINNER K urt Bjorkman was appreciative and delighted that his course was one of the handful in the state to be awarded a pres- tigious Community Environmental award from the California Golf Course Owners Association. But the General Manager of The Ranch at La- guna Beach admits he wasn't too surprised – and doesn't think regular guests of the property were either, since the resort's commitment to sustain- ability practices is well known. "Quite simply – it's the right thing to do," he said. "To us, it's part of the responsibility that comes with living and working in one of the most scenic places in the world.
