In the golf industry, the first big event of the year isn't in April, it's in January. That's when nearly 40,000 golf industry professionals from all over the world come together for the annual PGA Merchandise Show, an extravaganza highlighting all the new gear golfers will see in the year ahead. This year's show, held January 22-24 in Florida, was marked by significant industry announcements as well as exciting product introductions. Of course the biggest news is always centered around the most sizable club in your bag – the driver. And this year's assortment did not disappoint. Callaway Golf's new Epic Flash, PING's G410 series, and Taylor- Made's M5 and M6 drivers were introduced at the Show and are among the many newly released clubs featured in this issue. New golf balls also generated a lot of buzz at this year's Show. Titleist's new Pro V1 and Pro V1x, Callaway's ERC, and Taylor- Made's TP5 and TP5x are all loaded with state-of-art technology and are flying longer and rolling truer than ever before. I'm looking forward to an exciting year of golf, and with the first major out of the way, I have my eyes set on the next one coming up in a couple of months at Augusta National.
