The King is gone but he's never far from our thoughts
S
eptember is always a special month here at Classic Club.
That's because it's the time we celebrate the birthday of
one of the game's greatest and most charismatic legends –
as well as the multi-talented man who designed our golf course.
Arnold Palmer would have been 89 years old on Sep-
tember 10 and though it's been two years since his
passing, the King is never far from our thoughts.
While he's designed hundreds of world-class
tracks around the globe, being a golf course
architect was just one of his many attributes.
He also happened to be a world-renowned
philanthropist, devoting countless hours to
charitable causes and helping to raise tens of
millions of dollars for those in need.
Mr. Palmer was also a gentleman in the truest sense of the
word. He once penned an article for Golf Digest entitled "10
Rules For Good Golf Etiquette" that should be required reading
for any student of the game. (You can find it here.) The piece
truly embodies the sentiment that it's not whether you win or
lose, it's how you play the game.
The King always played with grace and class. And that's ex-
actly how we like to remember him.
