Course is relatively straightforward and
flat, with a lot of trees. The South Course
sits at a higher elevation and thus is
hillier. While it's not as long as the North,
tricky greens add to its challenge, and
there are more spots where you have to
assess the risk-reward proposition.
"The resort has re-established itself as a
destination within one of the most beauti-
ful locations in the world," Evans said.
"The Napa Valley is famous as a wine re-
gion, and Silverado is the premier golf fa-
cility in the Valley. Members are given the
opportunity to play two championship
golf courses, both have had a long history
in regards to the PGA Tour as well as the
Champions Tour. Players like Johnny
Miller, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer,
Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose have played
and competed at Silverado."
Silverado has a strong membership that
actively supports its local tournament programs, Men's
Invitational, Men's Thursday Team Play, Bay Area Sen-
ior Association home and home travel group, Ladies In-
vitational, Mixed Golf, 18 Hole Ladies Group and
Striking Ladies. And there's plenty happening off the
golf courses, with a healthy social calendar that runs the
gamut from Fourth of July barbeques to watching some
of the world's best golfers compete in the Safeway Open.
"Silverado has it all, and it's right there on the prop-
erty," Miller said. "There's great food and terrific lodg-
ing, and of course the two golf courses. Then there's the
tennis courts and swimming pools, the walking and bik-
ing trails and it's very dog friendly. All those things
combine to make it a truly special and relaxing place to
get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life."
