t itleist bucks the trend in the golf club industry by releasing new products every couple of years rather than every few months, so when its new products hit retail, golfers have every reason to get excited. And with the brand's newest line of irons and hybrids, there's a club for every skill level. The 718 line includes the famil- iar AP1 and AP2, plus the newly released AP3 player's distance irons. There's also an MB option, a T-MB and a CB version. "This is probably the most di- verse line Titleist has ever offered," said Jim Pooler, a clubfitter and product specialist at the Roger Dunn Santa Ana Superstore in Southern California. "There's something in there for everyone from the scratch golfer to the high handicapper." The star of the line is without a doubt the AP3. It essentially com- bines the best attributes of the AP1 and AP2 into one club. "The AP3, because it's a brand new club and fits a bit of a niche, has been highly anticipated," Pooler said. "It gives the player who has been playing the AP2 a few extra yards. It's a little bit dif- ferently constructed, and when you look down on it, it's going to look noticeably more offset than the AP2. It's got a very professional look to it and some forgiveness." In the hybrids, Titleist has im- proved on its last release. The 818H1 is a scoring and distance club while the 818H2 offers preci- sion and distance. "The 818 was a surprise to me because I thought the 816 was a very good hybrid already," Pooler said, noting that the 816 was the No. 1 hybrid on tour and that Titleist set out to make its next line of hy- brids optimized for scoring, with better trajectory for holding greens and more draw and fade control thanks to the addi- tion of Surefit CG. "With the 818 they've refined the look a bit and made it feel even better. It's a lit- tle hotter off the face." > CliCk here to shop now. ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 ver.indd 1 12/1/1 WHAT'S NEW titleist 718/818 irons, hybrids make debut Titleist has unveiled a diverse line of hybrids and irons this fall. exClusive podCast: Listen in as President of Titleist Golf, Steve Pelisek, discusses the new Titleist 718 line of clubs. everythinG you need to know: Read more about Titleist's 718 iron lineup, which offers six new models. a Closer look…
