4 breakthrough clubs
highlight best of 2016
T
his past year we've
seen some of the
most innovative
and game-changing break-
throughs ever in club de-
sign from the industry's
biggest players, including
TaylorMade, Callaway,
Cleveland and Ping. From
drivers to irons to
wedges, equip-
ment makers
have pushed the
envelope when
it comes to pro-
viding golfers with
more distance, accuracy
and ball control.
Here's a look at some of
the best from 2016 >>>
CALLAWAY GOLF
FUSION DRIVERS
Callaway's Fusion drivers
were designed with cutting-
edge, outside-the-box think-
ing featuring a breakthrough
in multi-material construc-
tion. "These drivers are very,
very good. They just came out
a few months ago, and
they're a great gift item," said
Kerry Kabase, longtime vice
president of purchasing at
Edwin Watts and now a con-
sultant for Worldwide Golf
Shops. "Fusion has been a
name Callaway has used in
the past. These drivers have
gotten a lot of good reviews
from customers, and some
Tour players are already hav-
ing success with them."

CLEVELAND GOLF
RTX-3 WEDGES
Three key technologies are
incorporated into the RTX-3
wedges: an updated hosel
with a micro-cavity inside that
redistributes weight; Feel Bal-
ancing technology that takes
weight from the hosel and
moves it closer to the center
of the hitting area; and up-
dated laser-milled tour zip
grooves that are narrower and
deeper. "The Feel Balancing
technology and the sweet
spot that's more in the center
of the face make them easy to
hit," said Joe Judd, District
Manager for the ,ve Utah-
based Uinta stores. "They're
very forgiving, and they hold
the greens really well."

PING
iBLADE IRONS
Unveiled at the Players
Championship in May, these
irons don't look like the cav-
ity-back game improvement
irons that have helped make
Ping one of the most recog-
nizable club on the market.
But while the iBlade oers the
soft feel of traditional blades,
they are forged dierently,
which increases the forgive-
ness and the distance. "These
are great irons. Love them!"
said Uinta's Joe Judd. "They
just have a really nice look.
They're for a mid-handicap to
a better player, but they're
also very, very forgiving irons.
The feedback from customers
has been really positive."

TAYLORMADE
M1 & M2 DRIVERS
The "M" stands for Multi-
Material technology, which
utilizes an ultra-thin, high-
strength crown that moves
weight lower and further back
on the sole for more eQcient
power transfer, greater ball
speed, and added distance.
"The M1 is a great driver.
Made for the slightly better
player, it's a top-of-the-line
product," said Matt Warner,
Store Manager at the Vans
Frank Lloyd Wright Superstore
in Scottsdale, Arizona. "The
M2 is a great driver that ,ts
everybody who plays golf. It's
very versatile for every type of
game out there. It's really
well-rounded for all players."
