INSIDE AMERICAN GOLF lOOKinG GOOd Summer projects bring on course improvements A s you can see from the cover of this month's edition of American Golf Insider, La Mirada Golf Course is looking better than ever. The popular municipal track featured in this issue recently unveiled bunker and fairway renovations that have dramatically improved playing conditions and the overall look of the William P. Bell design that has been around since 1961. But La Mirada Golf Course is not alone. Making big-time improvements has been a major theme over the summer at several of the courses American Golf manages throughout Southern California. At Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course in Irvine, for instance, work included restoration of the course's bunkers with all-new sand, as well as resodding portions of several fairways and tee boxes. New yardage markers also were added on sprinkler heads in the fairways. Mission Trails in San Diego has seen its share of upgrades, too, with new sod installed on several holes. The project has significantly improved soil conditions, which will enhance playability in the landing areas for years to come. And in Long Beach, golfers who play at Lakewood Country Club and El Dorado Park Golf Course saw extensive renovations from tee to green at both tracks. When it comes to creating a better overall experience at our courses – we're always striving for improvement.
