L as Positas Golf Course and Beeb's Sports Bar & Grill are an integral part of Livermore, and giving back and reaching out to the commu- nity is one of their most impor- tant goals. From group golf programs and youth scholarships to fam- ily-friendly events and fund- raisers for people in need, Las Positas goes the extra mile to connect with the community. One of the efforts Las Positas is involved in is the Life Links Golf program at the Arc of Alameda County, an organiza- tion that provides advocacy and support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Las Positas offers weekly golf lessons for about 20 participants to help them improve gross and fine motor skills, enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and to socialize with their peers and coaches. "Our golf family is very im- portant to us and we consider anyone who comes to our prop- erty to be part of that family," said Geanna DeBenedetti, Golf Shop Manager at Las Positas, "At the end of the day, we're family-owned businesses supporting the commu- nity and its residents and bringing fun activi- ties for all ages." Another way Las Positas gives to the community is by providing scholarships for its Junior Golf program to youth with financial or emotional hard- ships. Nominations and suggestions come via community members, and Las Positas selects a recipi- ent annually for a year-long scholarship. In addition, Las Positas pro- vides a place for youth to fulfill community service, either for leadership requirements or as part of the Family & Youth Court program in Livermore. Las Positas also heads up nu- merous initiatives that give back to soldiers, including the Folds of Honor Foundation that raises money for veterans over Labor Day weekend. Many of the commu- nity and family-friendly events are held at Beeb's Sports Bar & Grill, which has been owned and operated by Dan and Jeanne Bieber for more than 30 years. Locals visit for regular trivia nights, cornhole tournaments, and seasonal parties – including the Easter egg hunt, Halloween trick-or-treating, and holiday Toys for Tots fund-raiser, which benefits families of veterans in the area – and often at no charge to the public. GOOD NEIGHBORS Las Positas gives back to the community with a host of family-friendly events COMMUNITY EVENTS LAS POSITAS FOOTGOLF COURSE MEANS FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY I n an exciting turn of events for the entire family, Las Positas Golf Course now offers FootGolf. The newest sport in the Tri-Valley area is easy and fun to play for all ages, and it doesn't require actual golf experience. "In FootGolf, the soccer ball replaces the golf ball, and your foot replaces the club," said Golf Shop Manager Geanna DeBenedetti. "FootGolf 's intuitive rules and style of play have introduced people who have never played golf to our course and facilities. In fact, 90 percent of FootGolf par- ticipants in the first six months had never been to Las Posi- tas, but now they've been and are continuing to return." FootGolf is a great way to get outdoors and have fun while being active. With a designated course at Las Positas, FootGolf participants can play a round anytime for just $10. "We often have golfers come out to Las Positas and bring their families with them to play a round of FootGolf simul- taneously," said DeBenedetti. CLICK HERE to learn more about Las Positas FootGolf.
