ith a unique blend of holes
that meander through 150
acres of vineyards, the task
of picking a favorite hole at Chardon-
nay Golf Club can be challenging.
So it was no surprise that when we
asked Chardonnay Insider readers to
tell us what holes they like the best,
we received a variety of responses.
Here's a sampling:
hOlE nO. 1 • 399 Yards • par 4
The first hole sets the stage for a
great round with it's majestic
oak framing a links-style
fairway — offering a realis-
tic opportunity for birdie.
— Michael Woodhurst
hOlE nO. 4 • 552 Yards • par 5
On days when the flag is in
the back left, the large tree on the left
guards the green like Shaquille
O'Neal would my layup! But the
biggest reason I love this hole is the
views from the tee box. Grapevines
behind, golf course wrapping around
you, and the clubhouse in sight as
well. — Stephen Gorman
hOlE nO. 5 • 159 Yards • par 3
It has character and it's as challeng-
ing as it is scenic. — Frank Gadola
hOlE nO. 6 • 463 Yards • par 4
One of the most beautiful and pic-
turesque golf holes at Chardonnay. I
always love to "shoot for the barn" as
my landmark. Views from the tee box
include expansive vineyards to the
west and a bird's eye view of No. 17
to the east. A gorgeous hole with a lot
of challenge. — Ken Graham
hOlE nO. 7 • 582 Yards • par 5
The ultimate challenge. Back-to-
back-to-back great shots just to stay
in contention for par – and then the
HUGE green to deal with. — Rob
Andreae
hOlE nO. 8 • 198 Yards • par 3
I've used everything from a 4-iron
to a wedge, depending on the pin
placement and the wind. Some days,
it's the easiest hole on the course, a
definite birdie opportunity. Other
times, you're just hoping you keep
the ball somewhere near the right
level. One of the best par 3s in the re-
gion! — Tim Roe
A seriously fun but challenging par
3. Great view of the bacon strip green
from the elevated tee. Reading a putt
on this roller coaster green is the real
test! — Rob Lopez
hOlE nO. 10 • 552 Yards • par 5
Great dogleg with risk-reward de-
cision! — David Grahn
hOlE nO. 14 • 183 Yards • par 3
It's a spectacularly pretty hole and
such fun to hit over the vines onto the
green. It's a sweet interlude, challeng-
ing enough without being intimidat-
ing. I love being able to look over the
course and valley. — Jane Henderson
hOlE nO. 15 • 569 Yards • par 5
Challenging hole that requires a
well-placed tee shot followed by deci-
sion-making second shot based on
that tee shot. Great vistas from the tee
box. — Tom Ono
hOlE nO. 16 • 174 Yards • par 3
I played on Father's Day this year
and on 16 I came within a few inches
of a hole in one. By far the closest I
have ever come. Tap in birdie. Fun
round. — Charlie Exum
hOlE nO. 18 • 473 Yards • par 5
Because it's a classic and I've
birdied it a number of times. Driver
off the tee, long iron layup, blind shot
wedge over the bunker to the green,
one putt, collect the money. — Neil
Wilson
It's a short par 5 that gives you a
reasonable chance at birdie — and a
great way to finish your round.
— Thomas Centolella
